December 2010
With vintage fur creeping back in we have seen more and more fur back on the streets of Liverpool. As well as picketing the usual designer shops that sell real fur such as Cricket and Boudoir Boutique both in Cavern Walks, Mathew Street, Liverpool, we have turned our attention to the vintage shops, such as Little Red Vintage on Bold Street.
It doesn't matter when the animal died, whether it was yesterday or 20 years ago, that poor animal still suffered and died a sad, lonely, painful death for the cruel fur trade and we will take to the streets to name and shame those who profit from such shameful cruelty. When the winter fashion set in last month, real fur kept popping up on the latest fashion victims. We decided on a new tactic to show the people of Liverpool that real fur is not acceptable and there is no place for it in this day and age!! With donated real fur coats and stoles covered in red paint to simulate the blood of the poor fur farmed victims, we paraded through the main streets of Liverpool. We had with us our 10 foot Fur Free Liverpool banner, a megaphone, leaflets, dozens of placards and a portable DVD player showing the latest footage from fur farms. We gave out 100's of leaflets and received so much support from the public. A handful of people were caught wearing real fur we gave them leaflets, told them they should be ashamed of themselves and showed them the poster of a skinned fox - the other half of their cruel coat...
The only way to get rid of the fur trade is to name and shame the shops selling real fur and the people who are wearing it. We will carry on with these protests in Liverpool until fur is history!!!
